Player Profile - Nick "Jonesy" Jones

Bio - Jonesy was first forced into playing rugby by a father intent on continuing a fine welsh rugby-playing heritage. A grandfather that played number 8 for Bridgend meant that Jonesy was undoubtedly imbued with natural rucking and mauling abillities.  No-one could predict a penchant for back play that has remained with him (with one notable foray into the forwards in the 2008/09 season) ever since.  Jonesy soon realised that rugby was the way of life he loved and spent the rest of his time (until now) trying to be better. Unlike Beast, Jonesy does not love touch.  Jonesy loves a good physical game against the French on a nice hard end of season pitch, which finishes 40-39, no-one uses their arms to tackle and there are no scrums.

Position -12 - But will do 13, 15 or 10.  Jonesy's trademark side step is both predictable and unstoppable - the double bluff of all rugby moves.  After a career change to 12 from 10, Jonesy has developed the art of tackling with his face to within inches of perfection.  With but a few tries to his name for the 2008-09 season, Jonesy is leading the charge to add a new column to the stats table for "Yards carried", and he pities the fool who plays outside him.

AKA - "Jopemeister General", "Jopey", "Jonah", "Le Jons"

Long and Rambling Bio

Jonesy first began to ply his trade on the field of dreams at Horsham RUFC, lucky enough to earn a brief county call up where he ran into the golden boy that was/is Smith.  Unlike many of his team mates, he was not smart enough to go to Oxbridge, but no doubt that if he had he to would still wear stash from the glory days to make sure everyone knows about it. Instead he represented Bristol Uni and during a year in France playing for Caen had the dual honour of being (1) the smallest player in the league, and (2) the only English player in the league.  The results were, unfortunately, invevitable.  One last step in his journey to Habs was playing alongside many of the team at Nottingham Law School which lead to his recruitment and a start for Habs in the last game of the 2005/06 season, mostly thanks to some persuasive tactics on behalf of Kaufman. He has not looked back since.

Jonesy enjoys - Hairwax, Stats, the Inches, blackeyes and 7s.

Favorite song:  Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau by Katherine Jenkins at the Millenium Stadium. Favorite gym exercise: At the moment, the Arabesque.
