Player Profile - Adam "Westlife" Crossley

Bio - Having caught the eye of distinguished Old Habs alumni Winston Bel-Gam and Stuart Tilly playing at Nottingham Law School in 2001/2002, Adam "Westlife" Crossley was parachuted into a threadbare Old Habs team making his debut in January 2003 against (he thinks) Royston. Looking back through rose-tinted spectacles he remembers making an impact with quick powerful running and tries galore from outside centre. These recollections may not be wholly accurate.

Position - Having been an inside centre and occasional fly half through his school career, culminating in being part of Rugby World's Team of the Month in 1997, frequent sprint training sessions up the hill outside Rutland Hall at Nottingham Uni propelled him into the back three for the first time in his career. He managed to talk his way back into fly half/centre having left university but history has repeated itself (although sadly not due to increased pace this time) and he currently resides in the back three for Old Habs where he occasionally rolls back the years with a burst of pace or side step and managed to secure try of the season in the 2008/2009 season. Sadly, his most impressive skill these days is the ability to keep his shirt clean even on the muddiest of pitches. Whilst scaling back his appearances somewhat this year, his aim to improve fitness and strength with a view to crossing the try line more regularly and upping his tackle count. This may be optimistic.

AKA - "Westlife", "Laptop", "Lapdog"

Long and Rambling Bio

Born in Leeds and raised in the rugby league heartland that is Hull, Crossley was fortunate to escape the dark side and instead displayed his skills for Hymers College and Hull Ionians from a young age. At 18 he strapped his boots to his back and trudged down the M1 to Nottingham, a mercenary for hire, where he turned out for Nottingham Uni and for Nottingham Rugby Club academy until a nasty car crash after a night out in Hull cost him a precious season of rugby in his prime.

Fighting back from adversity he made it back onto the wing for Nottingham Uni 2nd XV in their heroic run to the BUSA semi finals and, due to a number of absentees signed off his uni career playing for the 1st VII in the BUSA tournament at Bath. His nacent Sevens career has been nurtured buy turning out for the most excellently named Seven Sons of Serevi along with such lumini as Kaners, Irish Dave and the Beast.

An avid viewer of the OC and One Tree Hill, Crossley would have loved to have been a jock in America but had to satisfy himself with the campus of Nottingham, less cheerleaders than America but a legendary girl to boy ratio meant this was not difficult.

Crossley enjoys - American teen dramas, Pump It sessions at Gym Box, doing it live, watching Girls Aloud on C4.

Favourite song: Romeo and Juliet (Killers cover of the Dire Straits classic); Slave (Britney Spears) purely for the video.
